Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician II to join our team at Tufts Medical Center. As a Surgical Technician II, you will play a critical role in providing medical and clinical support services to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Operating Room team with specific routine clinical activities, including setting up procedure rooms and preparing surgical equipment.
  • Provide a safe environment for patients undergoing invasive procedures or surgery, adhering to aseptic technique and infection prevention practices.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and physicians to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in restocking of rooms and checking and cleaning equipment on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with peers and colleagues to effectively contribute to the working group's achievement of goals and foster a positive work environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Two (2) years of operating room experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a Surgical Technologist program.
  • Three (3) years of same day, orthopedic, endoscopy, LASIK, or other relevant surgical experience.
  • Specialty certifications.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work within the semi-restricted and restricted environment of the Operating Room and other Perioperative support areas.
  • Stands under hot surgical lights for prolonged periods of time.
  • Possibility of muscle strain from lifting patients and heavy equipment, shocks and burns from cautery units and autoclaves.
