Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Biologist/Project Manager to lead and participate on projects in Northern California, focusing on environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage projects related to linear infrastructure, renewables developments, transportation, and energy infrastructure, focusing on biological reviews, surveys, and permitting.
  • Develop permitting strategies, provide regulatory guidance, and direct surveys for biological resources to document existing conditions and identify sensitive habitats or habitats for rare, threatened, or endangered species.
  • Support staff in preparation of biological resources sections for CEQA documents, evaluate potential environmental impacts, and develop mitigation measures.
  • Provide quality assurance reviews of technical documents and lead coordination with regulatory agency staff to discuss and negotiate project impacts, permitting requirements, and mitigation strategies.
  • Support or lead environmental compliance efforts and provide mentorship, growth, and direction to junior and mid-level staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Botany, Environmental Science, Ecology, or similar discipline with biological emphasis.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible work history as a biologist and project manager, ideally with prior consulting experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of California habitats and wildlife species, federal and state biological resources regulations, and permitting processes related to special-status species, waters, and wetlands.
  • Experience leading/reviewing permitting efforts with agencies including the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible work history as a biologist and project manager, ideally with prior consulting experience.
  • Master's degree or other graduate degree.
  • Experience as a fisheries biologist, wetland delineations, rare plant surveys, and/or habitat restoration.

The base salary range for this position is $155,000 to $203,475. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
