Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our Urology Specialists of the Carolinas team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care and support our healthcare providers in a clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner, assisting and directing them appropriately.
  • Perform clinical duties in a medical setting, such as scheduling appointments, taking patient histories, and recording vital signs.
  • Assist healthcare providers during medical exams, including preparing exam rooms, sterilizing medical instruments, and explaining procedures to patients.
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests and perform phlebotomy procedures, including collecting and preparing specimens for testing. Must have a certification for Phlebotomy.
  • Under the supervision of a CMA, RMA or Provider, perform basic medical procedures, such as dressing changes, wound care, and suture removals.
  • Manage and maintain medical records, including patient charts, test results, and other important medical information.
  • Assist with patient education and provide information on medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventative care measures.
  • Cross-trained to work patient services associate duties, including check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and other administrative tasks.
  • At the discretion of the provider, assist with procedures.
  • Answer, triage, and respond timely to calls and messages.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Work effectively as a team member and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude to support the company culture.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or general equivalency (GED).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals at all levels.
  • Computer competence and knowledge of EMR Systems.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathetic and patient-focused approach to customer service.
Preferred Skills
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Experience in a clinical setting or medical office.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • Skill in handling phone calls and triaging appropriately.
Physical Demands

This job may require sitting or standing for extended periods and occasional bending, lifting, and reaching. Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Potential exposure to infectious disease.
