The Civil Court Assistant (Grade 8) is tasked with operational duties in a dynamic, high-volume office environment characterized by tight deadlines. The Civil Court Assistant will engage in a systematic rotation of court processing and front desk responsibilities.

Key Duties

The Civil Court Assistant will perform a variety of clerical tasks related to the processing of court cases. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing assistance to the public.
  • Verifying filings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Issuing civil processes, garnishments, interrogatories, payment orders, capias, subpoenas, levies, writs of possession, and other court documents.
  • Preparing dockets and accepting payments.
  • Assisting the judge during court sessions.
  • Entering data into the automated case management system.
  • Filing court documents efficiently.

The candidate must be adept at multitasking and willing to take on additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The most competitive candidates will possess experience in court, business, or office settings. Applicants should demonstrate attention to detail, high accuracy, and organizational skills. Strong multitasking abilities and a quick learning aptitude are essential. A commitment to providing courteous and efficient public assistance and a collaborative team spirit are also necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required, along with a minimum data entry speed of 30 words per minute.

Physical Requirements

Applicants should be capable of lifting and bending to retrieve files, as well as sitting for extended periods in court or at the front desk.
