About the Role

The Director of Sustainability Initiatives will play a key role in supporting the university's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Reporting to the Senior Executive Director of the Rist Institute for Sustainability and Energy, Climate Tech, and Economic Development, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainability programs that reduce environmental impacts, improve operational efficiency, and promote the university's sustainability initiatives to external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sustainability programs and initiatives that align with the university's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship practices.
  • Engage with student employees and the wider student body to promote sustainability awareness and involvement.
  • Leverage relationships with state partner organizations to secure grant funding and support sustainability initiatives.
  • Plan and execute community engagement efforts to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship.
  • Provide staff support to the Rist Institute for Sustainability and Energy and advance its goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate and monitor the university's core sustainability and compliance reporting requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in planning, environmental sciences, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in sustainability program development and implementation.
  • Strong working knowledge of sustainability and associated data and metrics.
  • Excellent communication and grant writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with LEED, STARS, and carbon reporting.
  • Masters degree in a related field.
