Job Title: Patient Services Representative

Join our team at Friendship Ambulatory Surgery Center as a Patient Services Representative, a clinical operations care team member responsible for providing exceptional patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute patient scheduling for optimal patient experience while maintaining office efficiency.
  • Manage patient access check-in/check-out workflows to ensure positive impressions and meet or exceed expectations.
  • Accurately complete patient registration and verify insurance information, benefits, and referral requirements.
  • Provide immediate service recovery and resolve problems utilizing appropriate rationale and involving Office Manager or Front Desk Supervisor when necessary.
  • Interact with patients, collaborate with providers, and schedule appointments considering scheduling guidelines, resource availability, and payer and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of medical symptoms, signs, and anatomical systems to identify and differentiate type and urgency of medical need.
  • Obtain and document pertinent insurance verification information and ensure financial clearance and authorization.
  • Reconcile collections and transactions, secure day-end monies, and determine pending financial responsibility.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures to support key metrics and quality assurance initiatives.
Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) experience in patient-facing healthcare or hospitality customer service.
  • Working knowledge of medical symptoms, signs, and anatomical systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English; bi-lingual a plus.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent mathematical and cash management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with physicians, co-workers, and patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Computer literate and ability to use multiple systems.
Work Environment:

An office environment with controlled atmosphere. Possible exposure to staff or patients with communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens.
