General Job Overview

Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Optometrist delivers specialized services to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner, adhering to departmental standards and electronic medical record protocols.
  • Comply with FHCSD policies, including timely submission of credentialing and licensing documents, maintaining required CME units, and attending mandatory meetings.
  • Exhibit effective communication and listening skills while maintaining respectful interactions with both colleagues and patients.
  • Meet a productivity standard of 2.74 patients per hour.
Performance Expectations

Maintain satisfactory peer evaluations by demonstrating the ability to assess medical information, including pathophysiology and patient presentations, to promote health and prevent disease.

Be adaptable to the needs of the clinic and organization, prioritizing tasks effectively and adhering to schedules.

Utilize resources efficiently and practice medicine in a cost-effective manner.

Engage in administrative tasks, including managing lab reports, charts, and medication refills.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Board certification in the relevant specialty.
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school.
  • Possession of a current, unrestricted Physician and Surgeon license to practice in California, if applicable.
Experience and Skills
  • Preferred: At least one year of experience working with underserved or low-income populations.
  • Ability to effectively engage with patients from various social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
  • Basic computer skills to meet departmental requirements.
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) are highly desirable.
  • Commitment to community health.
Physical Requirements

Frequent bending, lifting, and standing are necessary, along with occasional reaching and manipulation.

Working Environment

Exposure to various medical environments and potential biohazards is expected.
