Job Overview

Position Summary: In the role of Senior Philanthropy Officer, you will be instrumental in furthering the mission of Light of Life by nurturing and managing relationships with potential major donors to secure substantial financial support. Your responsibilities will include identifying, engaging, and soliciting major contributions through tailored cultivation strategies and effective relationship management.


Key Duties:

  1. Donor Engagement and Relationship Building:
    1. Identify and assess major gift prospects from current supporters and external networks.
    2. Create and execute customized cultivation and solicitation plans for each identified prospect.
    3. Establish and sustain robust relationships with donors through consistent communication, meetings, and events.
    4. Ensure timely and appropriate recognition of major donors to strengthen their connection with the organization.
  2. Gift Solicitation and Closure:
    1. Develop persuasive proposals, presentations, and materials to secure major gifts.
    2. Lead the solicitation process, including making direct requests and negotiating gift agreements.
    3. Successfully close major gifts by aligning donor interests with the organization’s priorities.
  3. Collaboration and Strategic Planning:
    1. Work closely with fundraising colleagues to align major gift strategies with overall fundraising objectives.
    2. Contribute to the formulation of fundraising plans and strategies to meet annual and long-term revenue goals.
    3. Provide insights into donor recognition and stewardship initiatives to ensure high engagement and retention of major donors.
  4. Corporate Philanthropy Strategy:
    1. Design and implement an annual corporate giving strategy that aligns with the organization’s fundraising goals and strategic priorities.
    2. Identify and prioritize potential corporate donors, including those with opportunities for sponsorships, grants, and employee engagement.
    3. Research and remain informed about trends in corporate philanthropy, best practices, and partnership opportunities.
  5. Data Management and Reporting:
    1. Maintain accurate and current records of donor interactions and moves management within the donor database (CRM system).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in soliciting and securing major gifts in a nonprofit or similar environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate relationships with high-net-worth individuals and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey the mission and impact of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker capable of developing and executing effective fundraising strategies.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Familiarity with fundraising databases and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
