Position Summary: In the role of Senior Philanthropy Officer, you will be instrumental in furthering the objectives of Light of Life by nurturing and managing relationships with potential benefactors to secure substantial financial support. Your responsibilities will include identifying, engaging, and soliciting major contributions through tailored cultivation strategies and effective relationship management.


Core Responsibilities:

  1. Donor Engagement and Relationship Development:
    1. Identify and prioritize potential major gift donors from current supporters and external networks.
    2. Craft and execute personalized engagement and solicitation plans for each identified donor.
    3. Establish and sustain robust relationships with benefactors through consistent communication, meetings, and events.
    4. Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgment of major contributors to strengthen their connection with the mission.
  2. Gift Solicitation and Closure:
    1. Develop persuasive proposals, presentations, and other materials to request major donations.
    2. Lead the solicitation process, including making direct requests and negotiating donation agreements.
    3. Secure major contributions by demonstrating a thorough understanding of donor interests and aligning them with the organization’s goals.
  3. Collaboration and Strategic Planning:
    1. Work closely with fundraising colleagues to ensure major gift strategies align with overall fundraising objectives.
    2. Contribute to the formulation of fundraising plans and strategies aimed at achieving both annual and long-term financial targets.
    3. Provide insights into donor recognition and stewardship initiatives to foster high-level donor engagement and retention.
  4. Corporate Philanthropy Strategy:
    1. Design and implement an annual corporate giving strategy that aligns with the organization’s fundraising goals and strategic priorities.
    2. Identify and prioritize potential corporate donors, including those with opportunities for sponsorships, grants, and employee engagement.
    3. Research and stay updated on corporate giving trends, best practices, and partnership opportunities.
  5. Data Management and Reporting:
    1. Maintain precise and current records of donor interactions and moves management within the donor database (CRM system).

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; a graduate degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • A proven history of successfully soliciting and securing major gifts in a nonprofit or similar environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities to foster relationships with high-net-worth individuals and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to effectively convey the mission and impact of the organization.
  • A strategic mindset with the capability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Familiarity with fundraising databases and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Light of Life Ministries Inc provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and other valuable benefits, which commence the first of the month following employment. Additionally, a retirement plan with a matching program is available after six months of employment.
