Vice President of Outreach Programs
At Breaking Ground, we are committed to the belief that everyone deserves a place to call home. Our organization manages nearly 4,000 housing units throughout New York City, as well as additional properties in upstate New York and Connecticut.
Supportive housing, which combines affordable living with essential services, is recognized as an effective and sustainable solution to chronic homelessness. Our mission extends beyond just providing shelter; we actively engage in programs and services that assist individuals experiencing street homelessness, particularly those who have faced prolonged periods without stable housing.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
In this role, reporting to the Deputy Vice President of Programs, the Vice President of Outreach Programs will oversee a diverse and expanding portfolio of outreach contracts and grants aimed at addressing street homelessness in urban settings. This position involves supervising a team of Program Directors and other leadership personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and enhance the operations of outreach services targeting street homeless individuals across various public-private environments, ensuring the achievement of program objectives, compliance with grant and contract requirements, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Directly oversee three to four senior director-level staff responsible for daily operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery and efficient resource utilization.
- Facilitate staff development through training, supervision, and communication strategies that foster organizational awareness and collaboration.
- Collaborate with Program Development, Human Resources, Data Services, and Compliance departments to ensure continuous performance improvement.
- Oversee financial management of the outreach portfolio, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with funding requirements, including budget preparation and ongoing financial monitoring.
- Provide leadership for daily activities, including crisis management, by working closely with key stakeholders and medical providers.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with grant partners, community stakeholders, and government agencies to promote collaborative problem-solving.
- Contribute to the advancement of Breaking Ground's mission through program innovation, policy development, and best practice implementation.
- Support the growth of outreach programs by offering insights for proposal development and the adaptation of evidence-based practices.
- Perform additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should possess a Master's degree in Social Work or a related field, along with a solid understanding of local mental health laws and community resources related to street homelessness. A minimum of five years of experience in homeless services or social service delivery, including managerial experience, is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
