Vice President of Business Development Operations

The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for leading and managing the entire Business Development organization, driving revenue growth, and ensuring the achievement of business development targets. This role involves developing and executing business development strategies, overseeing business development team performance, expanding client relationships, and working closely with other departments to ensure alignment with the organization's goals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor the Business Development team, fostering a success-oriented, accountable environment focused on high performance, accountability, and goal attainment.
- Ensure consistent communication of service offerings, philosophies, compliance, and value propositions across the team and with prospects.
- Meet or exceed individual and team booked revenue quotas, driving new client acquisitions through networking, cold calling, webinars, social media engagement, conferences, and other avenues.
- Oversee daily and weekly reviews of department metrics to support new and existing client growth.
- Ensure 100% utilization of CRM tools for tracking lead and opportunity generation, estimated close dates, new client agreements, and booked revenue on a bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Manage team operations, including performance evaluations, goal setting, and scheduling (PTO, conference attendance).
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation for all new business development agreements and supporting documents for the implementation of new clients.
- Possess thorough knowledge of the market and the solutions/services our organizations and our competitors provide.
- Identify opportunities for business development growth through email campaigns, events, and conferences, ensuring ROI tracking and team participation in key industry events.
- Collaborate on operational improvements, including process evaluation and training material updates.
- Work closely with product development and marketing teams to ensure product offerings meet market demands.
- Evaluate, modify, implement, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and staffing level metrics.
- Promote a collaborative environment to share techniques, encourage individual development, and celebrate team successes.
- Stay informed of current policies and procedures.
- Continued professional development through ongoing training and education.
- Ability to lead, inspire, and manage the business development team to achieve individual and collective goals while fostering accountability and high performance.
- Capable of developing and executing business strategies, ensuring alignment with the organization's objectives, and driving measurable outcomes.
- Expertise in prospecting, networking, and client acquisition through multiple channels (cold calling, webinars, conferences, social media), with a strong focus on exceeding revenue goals.
- Skilled in articulating and communicating the organization's value proposition, service offerings, and competitive advantages consistently across the team and with potential clients.
- Proficiency in analyzing business development metrics, utilizing CRM tools for tracking, and making data-driven decisions to improve performance and meet business targets.
- In-depth understanding of the market, industry trends, and competitor services to stay competitive and effectively position the organization's offerings.
- Competency in setting performance goals, conducting regular evaluations, providing feedback, and managing individual/team development through coaching and career path discussions.
- Strong ability to oversee day-to-day operations, including team scheduling, process improvement, and resource allocation, ensuring smooth workflow and productivity.
- College degree or 5 years relevant sales/business development experience within the business-to-business service sector.
- Three to five years managing a team and holding them accountable to metrics.
- Must be a strong leader, mentor, and strategist, with a proven track record of building high-performing business development teams and delivering results in a competitive market.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience in managing and motivating a business development team.
- Strong understanding of SaaS models, CRM software, and sales/business development analytics tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills.
