Tax Auditor II

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Field Auditor II to join our team at the Vermont Department of Taxes. As a key member of our Compliance Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and equitable collection of Vermont taxes.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze taxpayer returns to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations
- Prepare tax assessments and adjustments to bring taxpayers into compliance
- Respond to and work with taxpayers and/or their representatives to resolve any issues or concerns
- Conduct on-site audits to verify taxpayer information and ensure compliance
- Play an active role in taxpayer appeals and/or settlements
- Three (3) years or more of college coursework in accounting, auditing, or business administration
- OR Two (2) years or more of experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing, or business administration
- OR CPA and one (1) year or more of experience at a professional level in tax examination, accounting, auditing, or business administration
- OR Two (2) years or more of experience as a Tax Field Auditor I or Tax Examiner II or III
