Overview

As an Allied Trade Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the Army's equipment operates reliably. You will be responsible for supervising the fabrication, repair, and modification of both metallic and nonmetallic parts.

Your duties will encompass operating a range of machinery, including lathes, drilling presses, grinders, welding machines, and other essential tools found in a machine shop environment. You will also serve as a skilled welder, utilizing your expertise to maintain and enhance the Army's equipment.

Through comprehensive training, you will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to select appropriate materials, tools, and equipment for each task. You will also master the operation of various fabrication machines, becoming proficient in their use and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Enlistment in the US Army or US Army Reserve is mandatory.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Tattoos are permitted, provided they are not located on your hands, neck, or face. (Tattoos on hands and neck may be considered with a waiver).
  • Applicants must possess no major medical or permanent health conditions that would preclude service.

Training Requirements

  • 10 Weeks of Basic Training
  • 20 Weeks of Advanced Individual Training
