Role Summary

The Mechanical Engineer at Engtal performs a variety of engineering tasks in collaboration with regional and central support staff, focused on the continuous improvement of all plant equipment. This role involves implementing innovative, low life cycle cost engineering solutions for various operations and maintenance issues, as well as supporting the creation and execution of capital projects in accordance with industry-accepted engineering practices, governing regulations, and operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and analyze equipment predictive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Direct equipment root cause incident investigations to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Identify and communicate risks associated with all stages of the asset life cycle to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Perform plant and system-level engineering studies to optimize equipment performance and efficiency.
  • Communicate recommendations to management and other affected parties in a clear and concise manner to foster consensus and facilitate favorable project outcomes.
  • Develop comprehensive capital improvement projects, including clear scope definitions, investment valuations of alternatives, and execution plans.
  • Evaluate and recommend contractors and technical service providers to ensure high-quality work and cost-effectiveness.
  • Solicit internal and/or external expertise as needed to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Ensure engineering documentation is retained, including drawings, reference manuals, and related information.
  • Utilize central information systems to ensure accurate project costing and efficient resource allocation.
Requirements
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred, or pursuing licensure upon hire.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in an engineering environment (power generation experience is a plus) with comprehensive knowledge of mechanical designs.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel as needed throughout MA, NH, and VT to support project requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely project delivery.
  • Effective time-management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to identify and address complex engineering challenges.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on AutoCAD and MicroStation CAD packages.
