Job Overview

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Chief of Clinical Informatics is responsible for merging clinical expertise with healthcare information technology to enhance patient care and minimize risks. This role leverages informatics methodologies to optimize healthcare delivery, collect and analyze data, and support healthcare professionals in their continuous learning and application of best practices.

The position operates within a semi-virtual framework, allowing for flexibility while maintaining a focus on high-quality healthcare service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the development and implementation of standardized workflows in collaboration with clinical stakeholders, ensuring the effective adoption of electronic health solutions throughout the organization.
  • Provide expert consultation to stakeholders and development teams regarding workflow optimization and technological innovations.
  • Act as the primary liaison for Electronic Medical Record (EMR) integration, focusing on Care Management and Analytics.
  • Oversee the resolution of issues and the implementation of both immediate and long-term solutions, ensuring effective communication with all parties involved.
  • Align workflow modifications with system updates, adhering to policy standards and change management practices.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including IT and Population Health Management, to design clinical documentation that meets regulatory and workflow standards.
  • Enhance the Population Health Management team by sharing clinical insights and developing workflow tools.
  • Lead project management initiatives for application updates, ensuring thorough planning and execution.
  • Educate and support stakeholders during the integration of new systems into healthcare practices, demonstrating expertise in change management.
  • Serve as a resource for ongoing education and support for both clinical and non-clinical staff, fostering collaboration and informed decision-making.
  • Exhibit strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, effectively managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Utilize analytical skills to collect and present data tailored to various audiences.
  • Demonstrate respect and professionalism in all interactions, adhering to ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Foster a culture of cooperation, adaptability, and dependability within the team.

Leadership Qualities:

  • Effective communicator who is open and direct.
  • Results-oriented, with a focus on prioritizing tasks and managing resources efficiently.
  • Mentorship capabilities to guide and develop team members.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of clinical experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience with healthcare technology and information systems.
  • Current RN licensure, with a BSN required and MSN preferred.
  • Certification in EHR applications or informatics is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience with Value-Based Care Models.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, with a forward-thinking approach to complex challenges.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Regular use of hands for tasks such as typing and handling equipment.
  • Visual acuity for tasks requiring close vision and depth perception.
