Join the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team at Amazon as a Senior Applied Scientist, where you will spearhead the creation and execution of innovative algorithms and models tailored for supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning utilizing human feedback, focusing on diverse modalities including text, image, and video.

In this pivotal role, you will significantly influence the advancement of Generative AI (GenAI) technologies capable of addressing Amazon-scale challenges, thereby enhancing our customers' experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of engineers, product managers, and scientists to tackle intricate challenges in GenAI.
  • Design and implement experiments to assess the efficacy of various algorithms and models, iterating swiftly to enhance outcomes.
  • Envision the long-term trajectory of GenAI development, identifying fresh opportunities to leverage these technologies for real-world solutions.
  • Effectively communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations and written documentation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior scientists and engineers, contributing to the overall growth and development of the team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master's degree with 5+ years of applied research experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in developing machine learning models for business applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • Experience with neural deep learning techniques and machine learning methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related discipline, with a concentration on GenAI and reinforcement learning.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing algorithms and models for supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning through human feedback.
  • Strong programming capabilities in Python and familiarity with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a creative and analytical approach to complex challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork across various functions.
  • Experience with patents or publications in prestigious peer-reviewed conferences or journals.

Compensation: Our compensation reflects the labor market across various US geographic areas. The base salary for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is determined by several factors, including market location, and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon offers a comprehensive compensation package, which may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
