The Content & Media ML Foundations team, a vital part of our Data Science and Engineering division, is dedicated to pioneering research and development initiatives that will shape the future of content production and promotion on a global scale. Utilizing rich multi-modal datasets (including text, video, audio, and images), we construct machine learning models and capabilities—such as tailored generative algorithms and multi-modal embeddings—that facilitate unique content comprehension and deliver substantial impact across Netflix.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop machine learning models that advance the state-of-the-art, utilizing Netflix's unique multimodal datasets or innovative algorithmic approaches.
- Design and implement cutting-edge machine learning frameworks for visual, audio, and textual data to enhance content comprehension and streamline production and promotional processes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including product managers, engineers, and data scientists, to articulate problem statements, outline strategic roadmaps, and prioritize execution.
- Effectively communicate intricate concepts and analytical results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, influencing key strategic decisions.
- Remain informed about the latest advancements in the field by participating in conferences, reviewing research literature, and applying promising new ideas that can enhance studio workflows.
- Engage with the machine learning community, both internally and externally, to foster learning, share knowledge, and contribute to the development of a strong Netflix brand in machine learning.
Your Profile:
- Solid foundation in machine learning and deep learning, encompassing embedding techniques, supervised and unsupervised learning, and advanced deep learning architectures.
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline with a focus on machine learning, artificial intelligence, or computer vision.
- Proficient programming skills in Python, with experience in machine learning/deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch.
- Proven track record of addressing complex challenges with innovative solutions, capable of both developing novel algorithms and adapting existing methodologies to new contexts.
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at conveying complex technical details to diverse audiences.
- A collaborative spirit, thriving in dynamic environments and positively contributing to team and company culture.
Compensation and Benefits:
Our compensation structure is solely based on an annual salary, without bonuses. Each year, you can choose how to allocate your compensation between salary and stock options. To determine your competitive compensation, we consider market indicators alongside your specific job family, background, skills, and experience. The compensation range for this role is between $170,000 and $720,000. Netflix offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health plans, mental health support, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching, stock options, disability programs, health savings and flexible spending accounts, family-forming benefits, and life and serious injury benefits. We also provide paid leave programs, with full-time hourly employees accruing 35 days annually for vacation, holidays, and sick leave, while full-time salaried employees enjoy immediate flexible time off.
