Compensation Range

$142,050 - $182,388 Annual (TSS.3)

$170,430 - $218,868 Annual (TSS.4)

Please note that the compensation range is a general guideline, and various factors influence starting pay, including education and experience.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Construction Manager to oversee technical and administrative aspects of the Mission-Driven Craft Labor Contract (MDCL) and manage subcontracted construction projects. This role involves coordinating construction activities with various stakeholders within the laboratory.

The Project Management Office (PMO) at LLNL provides essential engineering, design, estimating, construction, and project management services to support groundbreaking research in defense technologies, global security, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer expert guidance during the planning and execution of construction activities in sensitive environments.
  • Track project progress, identify potential challenges, and facilitate solutions to minimize risks.
  • Resolve complex technical issues related to construction specifications and ensure compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Evaluate project challenges and develop strategies to meet quality and productivity objectives.
  • Oversee subcontractor safety programs and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Manage subcontractor schedules and address time-sensitive issues to meet project milestones.
  • Review safety plans and job hazard analyses to ensure compliance with laboratory policies.
  • Provide daily oversight of construction activities to ensure safe and effective coordination.
  • Coordinate the commissioning process and compile project close-out documentation.
  • Communicate project status and challenges to relevant stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Additional Responsibilities at TSS.4 Level

  • Develop quality assurance plans and oversee quality assurance activities.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and propose innovative solutions to design challenges.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on construction-related matters.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of nuclear operations and safety requirements.
  • Experience supervising contract labor and ensuring timely deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and codes.
  • Experience managing construction projects and budgets effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations applicable to construction projects.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with project personnel.
  • Proficiency in construction project management software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DOE facilities and knowledge of relevant regulations.
  • Familiarity with project management for capital asset acquisition.
  • Proficiency in MS Project.
