Compensation Details

The salary range for this position is as follows:

  • $142,050 - $182,388 Annual (TSS.3)
  • $170,430 - $218,868 Annual (TSS.4)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Construction Manager to oversee technical and administrative aspects of the Mission-Driven Craft Labor Contract (MDCL) and manage subcontracted construction projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of construction activities within the laboratory's infrastructure.

The Project Management Office (PMO) at LLNL provides comprehensive engineering, design, estimating, construction, and project management services, facilitating groundbreaking research in various fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer expert guidance during the planning and execution of construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Track project progress, proactively identifying and resolving technical challenges to mitigate risks.
  • Deliver solutions for complex technical issues, ensuring adherence to project specifications and requirements.
  • Evaluate project challenges and develop strategies to achieve productivity and quality objectives.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety protocols and monitor adherence to project timelines.
  • Review safety plans and job hazard analyses to ensure alignment with laboratory safety policies.
  • Provide daily oversight of construction activities, coordinating effectively with facility operations.
  • Manage the commissioning process, overseeing testing activities and project close-out documentation.
  • Communicate project status and challenges to stakeholders, including team members and management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities at TSS.4 Level

  • Develop project-specific quality assurance plans and oversee quality assurance processes.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and facilitate preconstruction and coordination meetings.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on construction matters, managing subcontractor documentation and requests.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in nuclear operations and knowledge of safety and security requirements.
  • Proven ability to supervise contract labor and ensure timely delivery of project outcomes.
  • In-depth understanding of construction management principles, methods, and codes.
  • Experience with constructability reviews and managing construction budgets.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations applicable to construction projects.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with project personnel and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in construction project management software.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with DOE facilities and knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Project.
