PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Precision Measurement Equipment Support Specialist utilizes extensive technical expertise to deliver logistics management services for the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Oversee the Material Control, Scheduling, Shipping, and Supply operations within the PMEL.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of all incoming Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) as specified in technical orders and performance work statements.
  • Manage the logistics of TMDE shipments to and from external clients, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared for transportation.
  • Create and maintain both digital and manual records for parts and equipment requests associated with PMEL.
  • Monitor TMDE statuses daily, performing timely follow-ups as required.
  • Assess projected workloads and inform the PMEL Manager of any significant changes to the monthly schedule.
  • Implement actions to reduce overdue TMDE instances.
  • Conduct training for TMDE Coordinators.
  • Provide on-base pick-up and delivery services as outlined in performance work statements.
  • Order and track parts necessary for TMDE repairs, keeping customers informed of any delays.
  • Fulfill responsibilities of the PMEL Technical Order Distribution Officer (TODO).
  • Research parts and equipment requests utilizing available resources prior to submission to base supply.
  • Maintain and supervise equipment storage areas.
  • Utilize the PMEL Automated Management System (PAMS) for accurate data entry regarding parts requests and TMDE status updates.
  • Manage the PMEL bench stock, ensuring compliance with shelf life regulations and proper marking of pilferable items.
  • Organize and oversee the work center shop stock, including inventory preparations for laboratory technicians.
  • Process documentation for the issuance of kits necessary for executing Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO).
  • Administer the PMEL Hazardous Waste Management program, serving as the primary liaison with the Base Hazardous Waste Management program.
  • Supervise the PMEL Satellite Accumulation Points, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Oversee the PMEL Precious Metals Program, managing the turnover of precious metals to supply when thresholds are met.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly TMDE calibration schedules for review and approval.
  • Conduct inspections and user maintenance on company-owned vehicles.
  • Perform visual inspections of TMDE at the owning work center, ensuring all necessary documentation accompanies the equipment.
  • Collaborate with various depots and PMELs to coordinate external repair and calibration support for TMDE.
  • Evaluate manpower, equipment, and parts availability, advising the PMEL Manager on necessary adjustments to repair and calibration schedules.
  • Input timely and accurate data into the TMDE Master ID file using PAMS.
  • Instruct TMDE Monitors on repair and calibration procedures, maintaining training records.
  • Process equipment received from external calibration and maintenance services.
  • Perform additional related duties as required to support organizational needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position carries the authority to execute assigned tasks without supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Comprehensive understanding of the US Air Force Metrology and Calibration Program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning new software applications.
  • Ability to effectively utilize the PMEL Automated Management System for accurate data management.
  • Competence in interpreting safety rules and operational manuals.
  • Strong report generation and correspondence skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with customers and staff.
  • Proficient technical writing skills for clear communication.
  • Skilled in using general office equipment.
  • Ability to adhere to established processes.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, including active listening and prompt follow-up.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to understand corporate policies and their implications.
  • High self-motivation and independence in work.
  • Excellent multitasking abilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant PMEL or calibration technical experience is necessary.
  • Must pass background checks and obtain security clearance.
  • Documentation of equipment and area discipline qualifications is required.
  • Proven track record of quality in calibration technician roles is essential.
  • Experience in inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating TMDE is required.
