Position Overview

About the Role: This role is situated within a dynamic Child Development Center.

Work Schedule:

Hours may vary, typically ranging from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend duties for special events.

Key Responsibilities:

Child and Youth Program Assistant (All Levels):

The selected candidate will function as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) across various child and youth initiatives, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants. Responsibilities include providing supervision, engaging in age-appropriate activities, and overseeing snacks and meals. Compliance with established policies and procedures is essential. Transportation of children in designated vehicles may be required.

Child and Youth Program Assistant (Intermediate Level):

This role involves assisting in the planning and execution of activities tailored for program participants. The assistant will foster an inviting atmosphere that encourages positive interactions and will implement daily schedules and activity plans that are suitable for various age groups.

Child and Youth Program Assistant (Entry Level):

This entry-level position entails performing basic tasks under guidance, assisting in the delivery of planned activities using established curriculum materials, and ensuring a welcoming environment for participants. Responsibilities also include maintaining a list of required supplies and addressing the physical needs of children as necessary.

Requirements:

Conditions of Employment:
  • Completion of pre-employment checks and background investigations is mandatory.
  • Physical capabilities to meet lifting requirements are necessary.
  • Proof of current immunizations, including annual flu shots, is required.
  • Completion of assigned training, including Food Handlers certification, is expected.
Qualifications:

Who May Apply: Open to all candidates. Applicants will be evaluated based on their qualifications and experience.

Experience Requirements:

All candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

For Intermediate Level:
  • Six months of experience in a group setting for children or youth, along with completion of required training modules.
For Entry Level:
  • No prior experience is necessary.

Child Development Programs offer a child care fee discount for eligible staff. Candidates must meet all qualification and background requirements. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are essential.
