The Pacific Air Forces is seeking a skilled Picture Framer Specialist to join our team at the Arts and Crafts Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality picture frames and providing exceptional customer service to our patrons.
Key Responsibilities- Frame patron artwork or pictures following work order specifications.
- Select and prepare finished wood or wood substitute/material from existing stock, measuring and cutting material to desired dimensions.
- Assemble picture frames using small hand tools, such as hammers, drills, and nail punches.
- Cut mat board to achieve special cutting effects specified in the work order.
- Measure and cut fabric or paper mat material, mounting artwork to mat or backing assembly, and securing work with retention staples.
- Complete the work with a heat seal to mount the picture to the backing.
- Measure, score, and break protective glass to proper dimensions.
- Measure, cut, and assemble backing material and picture hanging devices.
- Maintain perpetual control on all inventory items associated with the frame shop using pre-established procedures and methods.
- Submit written requests for additional stock and supplies as needed.
- Maintain shop tools and assure tools are kept in good working order.
- Assist patrons by demonstrating picture framing and matting techniques, including use and safety practices of shop equipment.
- Select, issue, and receive hand tools used by patrons.
- Must have experience which demonstrates knowledge of a limited range of woodworking materials, techniques, and processes.
- Must possess skill in basic layout procedures for repetitive assignments.
- Must have skill in use of a variety of hand and power tools such as drills, hammers, miter box, frame cutters, and corner jigs.
- Must possess skill in dealing with the public.
- Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds and frequently lift and move heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
