Medical Office Administration Lead Instructor

Fortis Institute in Towson, Maryland is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Medical Office Administrator to join its faculty. If you possess a desire to help others succeed, this is an opportunity to positively impact the lives and careers of our students and graduates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate excellent teaching qualities and set a positive example for other instructors regarding appropriate dress, class preparation, punctuality, student assessment, and a student-centered approach to classroom instruction.
  • Assist in developing, evaluating, and maintaining curricula and programs that respond to community needs, prepare students for success, and meet the requirements of regulatory agencies.
  • Work as a qualified instructor to place students with compatible externship sites, visit the externship sites, and review the students' performance.
  • Assist with the development and scheduling of classes, textbook review, selection, and distribution processes, and substitute to cover classes as needed.
  • Assist with employee orientations regarding program procedures, instructional issues, and Faculty Fast Track Training.
  • Assist the Department Chairperson with faculty to support course consistency in accordance with approved course syllabi and lesson plans.
  • Attend regular phone conferences with the National Director of Medical Programs and participate in Team Leader group activities when available.
  • Assist Department Chairperson to resolve faculty and student issues, maintain inventory of equipment, software, and supplies in the laboratory and classroom, and monitor the cleanliness of the labs/classrooms as directed.
  • Monitor classroom and student safety and immediately report safety concerns to the DOE/Dean and the Campus Director/Department Chairperson.
  • Participate in student activities, such as serving as a club advisor, if needed/required.
  • Be aware of the school catalog, faculty handbook, and student handbook, and understand all the procedures and expectations stated within it as well as policies stated therein.
  • Assist in maintaining industry contacts for instructional and employment purposes.
  • Keep abreast of industry changes through participation in industry events and regular involvement in professional organizations.
  • Adhere to and support school policies and procedures as referenced in the employee handbook, faculty handbook, and catalog.
  • Participate in advisory board meetings, in-services, weekly faculty meetings, professional seminars, etc.
  • Attend student orientation and graduation ceremonies.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an Accredited Medical Office Administration Program resulting in a certificate in completion or diploma, associate degree preferred.
  • Certification in Medical Office Administration or a related allied health discipline required.
  • Associates Degree in Allied Health, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline highly desired.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a medical office setting.
  • Prior higher education/postsecondary education related teaching experience of at least one (1) year is required.
  • Highly organized, motivated, and results-driven.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow through on instructions given in a timely manner and work effectively and collaboratively with others.
