Position Overview

HealthPRO Heritage is seeking a dedicated Full-time Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant.

  • Experience in Independent Living / Assisted Living / Memory Care settings

The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant is a proficient technical professional who executes direct care activities for residents under the guidance of the Physical Therapist.

Compensation Range: $39.00

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver physical therapy interventions to residents in accordance with treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist.

2. Support the Physical Therapist during assessments, evaluations, and intricate treatment procedures.

3. Monitor, document, and communicate to the therapist regarding the conditions, reactions, and responses related to assigned responsibilities.

4. Maintain daily treatment records and document progress notes on residents as instructed by the therapist.

5. Assist with the screening process for new admissions.

6. Collaborate with the therapist in discussions with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, as necessary.

7. Aid in the upkeep of the physical therapy department and its equipment.

8. Assist the Physical Therapist with in-service training programs and other meetings as directed.

9. Engage in continuing education opportunities relevant to your discipline and responsibilities to maintain clinical proficiency.

10. Comply with Heritage Healthcare's regulatory and professional standards and guidelines.

11. Participate in rehabilitation team meetings to discuss resident progress, challenges, or needs.

12. Follow facility policies and procedures and contribute to quality improvement and safety initiatives.

13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

14. Understand reimbursement processes from various payers and allocate therapy resources effectively in line with resident goals and discharge plans.

15. Demonstrate knowledge of OBRA regulations, HIPAA, Local Coverage Determination, and third-party reimbursement guidelines.

16. Uphold the company's commitment to Compassionate Care; project a professional demeanor to instill confidence in the rehabilitation program.

17. Execute duties independently while recognizing situations that require direct supervision; willingly assist colleagues.

18. Maintain the expected productivity level discussed and required for your specific role within the facility.

Qualifications

1. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

2. Current licensure or eligibility for licensure under state regulations.

3. Preferably possess experience in a setting catering to the same demographic served by this facility.

4. Strong oral and written communication skills (legible handwriting) and interpersonal abilities.

5. Capability to comprehend and follow the directions of the Physical Therapist and the facility's policies and procedures.

6. Ability to safely perform the following activities, sometimes for extended periods:


• Standing: Maintaining an upright position for prolonged durations.


• Pushing: Applying force to move objects forward or away, with a push or pull force of up to 35 lbs.


• Lifting: Raising objects from lower to higher positions or moving them laterally, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently. Lifting over 50 lbs may require assistance or mechanical aids.


• Stooping: Bending forward and down from the waist, hips, and knees for extended periods.


• Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction away from the body.


• Balancing: Maintaining equilibrium to prevent falls when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces.
