Job Description

As a TAY Housing Navigator with the Coalition for Responsible Community Development, you will play a critical role in providing housing location, navigation, and stabilization services to youth exiting the County of Los Angeles Child Welfare System. Under the direction of the Program Manager, you will assess the needs of youth and stabilize them in housing that is appropriate for their needs, including transitional housing, time-limited subsidies, shared housing, general affordable housing, and permanent supportive housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the needs of youth and develop a housing stability plan
  • Provide individualized and culturally competent support to youth
  • Accompany youth to housing appointments and support them throughout the housing search, placement, and move-in process
  • Interface with local landlords and property managers to identify available housing options
  • Provide direct supportive services to youth to remove barriers to maintaining housing stability and advancing their career and education goals
  • Develop an individualized career plan with a focus on maintaining housing stability, transitioning to longer-term or permanent supportive housing options, and accessing sustainable wages through workforce development programming and training

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years' experience or related work and a Bachelor's-level Degree; or an Associate's-level Degree and 5 or more years' experience providing housing-based support services to young people facing multiple barriers to housing stability
  • Experience working with youth experiencing homelessness and housing instability, and/or have had experience in foster care, probation, mental health systems
  • Reliable, flexible team player who works well with minimal supervision, who has a good work ethic, and an ability to set and maintain personal boundaries
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of South Los Angeles community & social services resources
  • Background in Mental Health services, Trauma Informed Care, and/or Harm Reduction a plus
  • Reliable transportation: valid driver's license, and car insurance as required by law, as appropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
