Public Health Specialist

This position is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing services to patients at the Nash County Health Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of public health principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide thorough assessments to patients during annual reassessments
- Review patients' current medications and enter relevant data into electronic health records (EHR)
- Document completed assessments in CAP/DA - CAP/C spreadsheet to notify patients' case managers
- Conduct initial or interim medical and psychosocial history, take blood pressure readings, and order necessary lab tests
- Offer education and counseling on identified medical and psychosocial issues
- Dispense appropriate medications and birth control methods according to departmental policies and procedures
- Update immunizations according to standing orders
- Initiate referrals for abnormal findings and needs
- Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with the department's medical record policy
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
- One year of professional nursing experience
- Certification in Public Health Nursing (NCCPHN) from the North Carolina Board of Nursing
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
Compensation and Benefits:
The estimated salary for this position is $63,640 per year.
