Job Overview:
Nash County, NC seeks a skilled professional to join their team as a Tax Administrative Specialist. This exciting opportunity will provide the chance to work in a dynamic environment where you will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative and accounting-related duties in support of the county tax functions. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the appraisal and mapping functions of the Tax Department, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of data entry, preparation, and mailing of appraisal notices, sales questionnaires, and other related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enter detailed information into the database generated by field appraisers, utilizing specialized software.
  • Prepare and mail out notices of valuations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Provide primary customer service for the appraisal division, answering questions and providing information to the public regarding ownership, value, sales trends, and locations.
  • Receive building permits, separate them into townships, and print property cards with name, values, sketches after appraisal and returns to appraiser for proofing and verification prior to notifying owner of valuation.


Requirements:
  • Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including specialized appraisal software and peripherals.
  • Working knowledge of North Carolina Machinery Act and County tax policies and procedures concerning listing, assessment, billing, and collections.
  • Skill in the use of information technology equipment and associated software products, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to work accurately with money, checks, data, and figures, perform standard mathematical calculations, and maintain databases and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms and to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
