Job Overview
The Certified Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in the Transplant Clinic, providing essential support to healthcare professionals and ensuring the smooth operation of patient care services. This position involves conducting assessments and identifying patient needs, while also making informed recommendations to relevant authorities. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of the assigned program areas and providing comprehensive evaluations and reports.
Key Responsibilities :
- Deliver technical support to staff, management, and the public, along with other governmental bodies.
- Process routine program requests from clients efficiently.
- Supervise team members as necessary to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications and Skills :
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited medical assisting program preferred. A minimum of one year of patient care experience is desirable. Basic computer proficiency is required, and maintaining annual competencies is mandatory. The ability to follow detailed instructions for therapeutic procedures and accurately observe patient conditions is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
Required Certifications :
Candidates must hold certification from one of the following organizations: American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health Career Association (NHA), MedCA as a Certified Clinical & Administrative Medical Assistant (MA1), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required, which can be obtained from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
Physical Demands :
The role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including but not limited to:
- Standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
- Climbing stairs and working in confined spaces.
- Performing repetitive motions and fine motor tasks with hands.
- Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Maintaining good vision and hearing acuity.
