Job Overview

Role Summary : The Certified Medical Assistant in the Transplant Clinic is responsible for conducting assessments and evaluations of patient needs, providing insights to relevant personnel. Additionally, the Medical Assistant will handle routine program requests from clients and supervise staff as necessary.
Qualifications and Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates should have completed an accredited medical assisting program and ideally possess at least one year of experience in patient care. Proficiency in basic computer operations is essential. Annual competency assessments must be maintained. The ability to comprehend and execute detailed instructions for therapeutic procedures and to accurately observe patients is crucial. Non-compliance with organizational policies may result in disciplinary actions, including termination. A strong understanding of medical terminology and human anatomy is necessary, along with effective verbal and written communication skills.

Required Certifications and Licenses: Candidates must hold certification from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health Career Association (NHA), MedCA as a Certified Clinical & Administrative Medical Assistant (MA1), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory, which can be obtained from the American Heart Association (AHA) or an equivalent recognized organization.

Physical Demands: The role requires the ability to perform tasks while standing, sitting, and walking continuously. Occasional climbing of stairs and working in temperature extremes may be necessary. The position involves working in confined spaces and performing tasks from kneeling positions. Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, and pinching operations are required. Continuous use of hands for gross and fine motor activities is essential, along with the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Candidates must have the ability to maintain visual acuity and discriminate between colors, as well as maintain hearing acuity. The role may involve dealing with stressful situations and requires flexibility to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed. A latex-safe environment is maintained, and sensory functions must be preserved for effective job performance.
