Position Overview

We are seeking two dedicated Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) to support our healthcare team at FamilyCare Health Centers.

Physical Demands:

This role requires a high level of both digital and manual dexterity. Candidates should be prepared for constant standing and walking, frequent bending and stretching, occasional lifting of items weighing up to 75 pounds, and occasional pushing of items weighing up to 200 pounds. Exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions typical of a clinical environment is expected.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant Program and hold current national certification/registration as a medical assistant, along with a Phlebotomy Certification. Strong communication skills with a focus on quality customer service are essential.

Core Responsibilities:

The CMA will assist healthcare providers in delivering direct patient care through clinical duties and telephone support. Responsibilities include aiding medical support staff with clerical tasks, data entry, referrals, procedures within the scope of practice, and routine patient communication.

Key Duties:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in required training through the completion of orientation checklists validated by an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Conduct routine telephone and walk-in triage, forwarding information to the appropriate provider.
  • Perform patient assessments, including vital signs, blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, pulse oximetry, and chief complaints.
  • Review and update patient records, including allergies, medication lists, and medical histories.
  • Engage in quality management practices, including self-management and follow-up for patients with chronic illnesses.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the nurse's station, lab, patient areas, and exam rooms.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to committees as needed.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Provider-Supervised Tasks:

  • Conduct on-site testing as directed and document results accurately.
  • Perform venipuncture and ensure proper labeling and routing of specimens.
  • Administer EKGs, oxygen, nebulizer treatments, and assist with various procedures.
  • Provide vaccinations and administer medications under the guidance of the healthcare provider.
  • Conduct ordered screenings, including hearing, vision, and TB tests.
  • Assist with obtaining prior authorizations for prescriptions and medical equipment.
  • Support providers with patient communication regarding lab results and prescriptions.
  • Administer routine wound care and monitor stable patients.
