The position of Construction Craftsman plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital's facilities. This skilled professional will be responsible for performing a variety of construction and renovation tasks, including selective demolition, measurement and layout of work, carpentry, framing, drywall installation and finishing, installing acoustical ceiling systems, installing doors, door frames and door hardware, painting, wallcovering, concrete placement and finishing.

Key qualifications for this role include a high school diploma or equivalent, three years of experience in a construction-related field, and a valid South Carolina driver's license with a clean driving history. The ideal candidate will be able to read technical cut sheets, submittals, and construction plans with a basic level of comprehension. Additionally, they should be able to operate a variety of tools and equipment common to the construction industry, navigate basic computerized applications, and work effectively as part of a team.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform construction and renovation tasks, including selective demolition, measurement and layout of work, carpentry, framing, drywall installation and finishing, installing acoustical ceiling systems, installing doors, door frames and door hardware, painting, wallcovering, concrete placement and finishing.
  • Read and interpret technical cut sheets, submittals, and construction plans with a basic level of comprehension.
  • Operate a variety of tools and equipment common to the construction industry, including hammer, skill saw, screw gun, drill, powder actuated tools, lasers, levels, and tape measure.
  • Navigate basic computerized applications for time keeping, training, and email.
  • Assist as assigned with construction projects where expertise is needed.
  • Work as a team member to ensure healthcare facility and work area safety at all times.
  • Work as a team member to implement and maintain infection control on construction projects in compliance with organizational infection control requirements.
