Job Summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Professional to join our Pediatric Pulmonary and Pediatric Ventilator Unit team. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the development of department-specific quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient care to pediatric and young adult patients admitted to the Pediatric Pulmonary service and Pediatric Ventilator Unit.
  • Direct patient care and management, including performing histories and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, attending team-based rounds, processing discharges, and developing a plan of care.
  • Provide patient and family counseling, education, and support as necessary.
  • Collaborate with and refer to consulting services in multidisciplinary care.
  • Respond to calls from patients/families and care teams.
  • Contribute to the development and modification of department-specific quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in professional development, attending continuing education/staff development programs to maintain knowledge of current literature.
Requirements
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
  • Current specialty certification as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan or current specialty certification as a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan with two years of inpatient pediatric APP experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
  • DEA license.
  • AHA-approved BLS and PALS.
  • Two years of clinical experience in pediatrics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of nursing/clinical experience with pediatric pulmonary or ventilator-dependent patients.
  • One year of experience practicing as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
  • Inpatient pediatric experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated high level of critical thinking and medical knowledge by using current medical information and scientific evidence for patient care.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize busy clinical practice.
Work Schedule

36 hours/week, variable shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
