Job Title: IT Director of Merchandising Systems

Job Summary:

The IT Director of Merchandising Systems is a key role in driving the continuous improvement of internal and client-facing processes. This position requires a strong leader who can balance business needs with technical expertise to identify digitization goals and improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex IT projects and direct a mix of onshore, offshore, and remote teams.
  • Develop and implement IT applications, systems analysis, and programming activities.
  • Manage IT professionals who design, develop, acquire, or adapt application software.
  • Direct and manage business areas within the IT Department to ensure the development and implementation of cost-effective systems.
  • Advise leadership on technology requirements to support business needs.
  • Actively promote a professional environment that encourages staff participation in the development of standards.
  • Compile and analyze data to prepare and present statistical information on department performance, productivity, activity, and budget.
  • Maintain, audit, monitor, and improve security and all IT applications.
  • Review proposals for changes to existing systems and recommend updates, enhancements, or replacements.
  • Organize work for the team to ensure proper distribution, delegation of assignments, and efficient utilization of personnel.
  • Provide direction and develop leadership competencies of current staff.
  • Conduct special projects and studies as directed by Senior Management.

Requirements:

  • Satisfactory performance reviews.
  • Effective communication skills with cross-functional/matrix teams and executive leadership.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Strong project management and general business skills, including ability to identify and plan for cross-functional impact of work.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and high standards of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent follow-up skills.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent teaming skills and proven ability to work effectively across multiple teams and functional areas.
  • Ability to coordinate work efforts of teammates as needed.
  • Record of planning and implementing large-scale projects involving a variety of technologies.
  • Ability to acutely manage and prioritize multiple project requests and workstreams, while transparently communicating to stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of IT leadership managing merchandising, planning, or supply chain related experience.
  • 7+ years of Enterprise IT work experience.
  • 5+ years of IT retail experience with a proven track record of increased responsibilities.
  • Experience in budget preparation and management of cost controls.
  • Experience in contract negotiations and vendor-relationship management.
  • Experience of collaborative, ethical, and effective management skills.
  • Successful experience with process design, development, and testing.

The disclosed compensation range for this position is applicable within the state the position resides. The actual base pay offered will consider internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The compensation range is one component of Price Chopper/Market 32 and Northeast Shared Services' total compensation and benefits package, which includes, 401(k), 401(k) match, paid time off, comprehensive health benefits, and more.
