  • Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is a comprehensive 83-bed acute care facility providing a range of services including Cardiology, Emergency Services, and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, among others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate effective communication among medical, administrative, and nursing staff, as well as other team members.
  • Support the integration of guiding principles into respiratory care practices.
  • Ensure that patient care is delivered in a personalized, professional, and high-quality manner.
  • Guarantee compliance with Joint Commission, local, state, and federal accreditation and licensing standards.
  • Maintain adherence to the requirements set forth by accrediting and regulatory bodies in patient care delivery.
  • Contribute to the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program for Respiratory Services.
  • Conduct quality control checks on equipment and promptly report any potential malfunctions or hazards.
  • Thoroughly explain diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to patients and their families in a professional manner.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, including electrocardiograms (EKG), respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, and ventilation management.
  • Utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to enter and retrieve patient information.
  • Document the procedures performed and their effects on patients accurately.
  • Provide basic nursing care to ensure patient comfort during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, seeking additional assistance when necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain departmental documentation, ensuring accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance in patient care delivery and billing processes with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Accurately enter patient charges in a timely manner.
  • Answer incoming calls courteously and professionally.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree.
  • Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with a commitment to obtain RRT within six months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • STABLE Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required within six months of employment.

  • Prior experience as a Respiratory Care Therapist.
