Position Overview:
As a Custodial Services Specialist at Bennington College, you will play a vital role in upholding a clean and hygienic atmosphere for our diverse student body. Your contributions will ensure that our academic, administrative, and residential facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort.

Full-time position, 40 hours per week with the following shift:
  • Monday through Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily Tasks:
  1. Empty waste and recycling receptacles.
  2. Sanitize restroom facilities and replenish supplies.
  3. Perform sweeping, vacuuming, or mopping of floors as required.
  4. Clean kitchen surfaces and appliances thoroughly.
  5. Change bed linens, tidy rooms, and manage inventory of cleaning supplies.
  6. Maintain water fountains and replace light bulbs as needed.
  7. Submit maintenance requests when necessary.
  8. Ensure windows are closed and dust surfaces as required.
  • Weekly Tasks:
  1. Wash windows and glass surfaces.
  2. Clean shower curtains and bathroom windows.
  3. Dust walls, lighting fixtures, and ceilings.
  4. Buff floors and organize supply closets.
  • As Needed Tasks:
  1. Scrub walls, staircases, refrigerators, and ovens.
  2. Shampoo carpets and upholstery.
  3. Maintain cleanliness of exterior areas.
  4. Assist with event setup and furniture arrangement.
  5. Operate vehicles for transportation tasks.
  6. Care for tools and equipment.
Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Valid driver's license required for operation of College vehicles.
  3. Experience in customer service and ability to multitask effectively.
  4. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  5. Must pass a background check.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, bend, and climb stairs. Flexibility for overtime, weekend, and holiday shifts may be necessary.
