Paraprofessional - Autism Support

The Westwood Regional School District is looking for a Paraprofessional to join our team in the Autism Connect Program. Compensation: $48,000 - $58,000 per year.
About the Job: The Paraprofessional will assist with instructional activities, communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff, and demonstrate knowledge of diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: Assist teachers with lesson plans, provide support to students with autism, and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Qualification Requirements: Must meet one of the following criteria: (a) completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; (b) obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or (c) met a rigorous standard of quality through a formal State assessment. Minimum experience as determined by the Board. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff. Knowledge of diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices. Passing score on the assessment for Crisis Management Training when required for student assignment. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. Experience working with students with Autism preferred. Knowledge/Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques and strategies.
Working Conditions: This position requires working in a school setting with students, teachers, and other staff members.
