About the Role

Baptist Health Care is seeking a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team. As a key player in the delivery of care based on the recovery model, you will work under the direction of a registered nurse to provide direct patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, interact, assist, and support specific age groups of psychiatric patients.
  • Maintain therapeutic relationships and promote a positive therapeutic environment and patient experience.
  • Assist in the implementation of recovery plans and perform routine and assigned tasks.
  • Help the nursing staff with patient care activities and perform safety rounds to ensure patients and environment are safe.
  • Document patient status, including reporting abnormal findings to the registered nurse.
  • Identify patient needs and function as part of the treatment team to develop and implement a plan of care.
  • Develop and facilitate mental health technician-led groups and maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of care provided.
  • Utilize Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques to recognize escalating behavior and de-escalate appropriately.
  • Provide person-centered care, offering choices, engaging patients in the treatment process, and fostering optimism and hope in others.
  • Manage the therapeutic milieu and redirect behaviors as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling/Psychology, or Psychiatric-Mental Health, Preferred.
  • 1-3 years experience in psychiatric care or healthcare-related position, Preferred.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire, Required.
  • CPI within 90 Days, Required.
  • Ukeru User Certification (UKERU_CERT) within 90 Days, Required.
