Job Summary

This is a contract opportunity for a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to work with a correctional facility in Florida. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work, and be licensed to practice in the state of Florida.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Treatment: Collect data about patients through interview, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluate data to identify causes of problems and determine proper therapeutic approaches or referral to other specialists.
  • Counseling and Therapy: Provide counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to patients as appropriate to the position.
  • Program Development: Prepare treatment and follow-up programs.
  • Emergency Services: Provide therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required.
  • Documentation: Responsible for complete and accurate documentation of care provided in the inmate's health record.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain health services records logs and assists with data entry within the scope of mental health related items.
  • Collaboration: Consults with other practitioners and related staff, as appropriate in the performance of therapeutic duties and/or casework.
  • Follow-up: Follows up to determine reliability of treatment used and changes methods and degree of therapy when indicated.
  • Professional Development: Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures.
  • Education: Facilitates and participates in inmate educational health programs.
  • Continuing Education: Participates in continuing education and in-service training to maintain professional capabilities and proficiency.
  • On-Call: Answer calls during on-call rotation and may be required to work nights/weekends.
