Telecommunications Field Specialist

Pearce Services is seeking a highly skilled Telecommunications Field Specialist to join our team. As a Telecommunications Field Specialist, you will be responsible for providing supportive engineering services through a highly detailed collection of telecommunications information from the job site.

This position requires a working level of knowledge in all technical aspects of fiber networks. The successful candidate will be responsible for in-person validation of the existing field design and layout of the OSP telecommunications network to include aerial, buried, and underground fiber network design and layout, underground conduit, handhole, building entrance, and riser facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, photograph, and document detailed information on required facilities, including cables, poles, terminals, pedestals, handholes, and other Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure.
  • Capture accurate measurements of attachment heights, span distances, utility structures, and distances from existing/proposed Outside Plant (OSP) facilities to centerlines, property lines, and curb lines.
  • Identify power and communication facilities and ownership on utility poles.
  • Deliver detailed field notes and photographs to the engineering team.
  • Identify relevant obstructions to fiber placement and provide a proposed mitigation strategy.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in the fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry.
  • Knowledge of outside plant activities (Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, Conduit System design).
  • Experience fielding and engineering road moves is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of aerial, buried, underground copper, and fiber facilities.
  • Ability to read and understand digital GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (a plus).
  • Ability to work outdoors 95% of the time.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time by air or vehicle and may require overnight stay up to two weeks at a time.
  • Ability to travel on short notice.
  • Ability to follow OSHA/State/Local Safety Standards.
