Financial Accounting Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accounting Specialist to join our team at Forest Properties Management, Inc. in Cambridge, MA.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full monthly accounting cycle for a subset of properties within our portfolio. This includes accounts payable management, general ledger input, expense accrual journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage high-volume accounts payable and ensure timely payments of invoices, including utilities;
- Input general ledger and expense accrual journal entries into RealPage;
- Process weekly manual check payments for site renovation projects;
- Reconcile credit card statements for site expenses;
- Provide copies of invoices, payments, and financial statements on a monthly basis;
- Assist with annual site budgets and forecasts;
- Quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred;
- 3-5 years' experience in real estate accounting or relevant accounting work experience;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as RealPage, OneSite, or similar real estate management software;
- Strong grasp of GAAP and competence in financial analysis, especially in the context of residential properties;
- Proficiency in bank reconciliation and financial statement analysis;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, deal with diverse problems, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits:
The estimated salary for this role is between $65,000 and $90,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a competitive compensation package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, fully paid life insurance, 401(k), and paid time off (vacation, sick, and holiday). May be eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus.
