Position Overview:
The Senior Psychology Manager oversees advanced and specialized psychological functions, requiring the ability to tackle complex tasks and make diverse decisions with considerable autonomy and initiative.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Psychology Manager is responsible for providing professional guidance and consultation to all psychology staff and specialized programs. This role may also include supervising psychology interns or practicum students. The individual actively engages in the hiring process for staff psychologists and is accountable for their ongoing performance evaluations.
Behavioral Support Oversight:
This position involves reviewing and coordinating the approval process for behavior support plans and assessing the use of psychotropic medications in addressing behavioral issues.
Quality Assurance:
The Senior Psychology Manager systematically evaluates the implementation of behavior support plans through direct observation, staff interviews, and documentation reviews. Collaboration with Unit Directors and staff psychologists is essential to ensure effective program execution.
Professional Development:
The role includes facilitating the professional growth of staff psychologists in areas such as applied behavior analysis, learning principles, and contemporary psychological issues to enhance service delivery.
Compliance and Administration:
The Senior Psychology Manager must maintain current knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and departmental policies, developing systems and procedures to meet these standards. This position also involves direct supervision of clerical support staff and managing budgetary responsibilities related to psychological and behavioral services.
Additional Duties:
Some travel may be required, and the work schedule may vary based on organizational needs. Other responsibilities may include participating in disaster response and recovery efforts as necessary.
Essential Job Functions:
- Regular attendance and flexibility in work hours are expected, including potential overtime.
- Provide professional supervision and consultation to ensure effective staff performance and resident support.
- Evaluate psychological services and develop improvement plans to ensure compliance with laws and best practices.
- Ensure ongoing training and technical assistance for professional staff to facilitate service delivery and growth.
- Coordinate psychological services with other facility areas to support uniformity and best practices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expertise in delivering psychological services to individuals with psychiatric and substance abuse diagnoses.
- Familiarity with applicable laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in administering standardized evaluations and developing behavior support plans.
- Strong leadership and advanced writing skills for technical reports and proposals.
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed as a Psychologist by the State of Texas or a reciprocity state.
- A doctoral degree in Psychology is required.
- Preferred experience in inpatient psychiatric settings and supervising psychological staff.
Additional Information:
- Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check and drug screening.
- Compliance with immunization policies is required.
