Job Overview

Harbor, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Technical Support Specialist to deliver assistance on desktop and laptop systems. This role encompasses the installation, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and enhancement of hardware and equipment to ensure peak performance.

This is a full-time position.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline is preferred; however, relevant certifications and experience may be considered.
  • Prior experience or education in hardware, networking, and communications is essential.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems is required.
  • The ideal candidate must be a collaborative team member, able to quickly learn protocols, follow instructions, and uphold confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail, logical thinking, and effective problem-solving skills are necessary, along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Patience, conscientiousness, self-motivation, independence, productivity, and a strong customer service orientation are crucial attributes.
  • Ability to travel to various agency locations is required.
  • A valid driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and proof of personal auto insurance are necessary to be eligible for Harbor's vehicle insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Respond to incoming inquiries via phone, voicemail, email, and direct requests regarding workstation and hardware issues in a professional and timely manner.
  2. Consult with staff to identify hardware needs essential for their roles, obtaining necessary approvals from management before procurement.
  3. Document and track help desk issue resolutions, including actions taken and final outcomes.
  4. Maintain and troubleshoot telehealth solutions, including hardware and user accounts.
  5. Follow up with staff post-resolution to ensure issues have been adequately addressed.
  6. Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot staff workstations and laptops.
  7. Install, configure, and test approved software on staff devices, coordinating with IT Help Desk Technicians for any software-related issues.
  8. Assess and implement performance upgrades for workstations and laptops, including the installation of network cards, hard drives, and memory.
  9. Maintain an inventory of all workstations and laptops, periodically running auditing software to associate staff with IT equipment.
  10. Keep a record of users assigned agency-owned mobile equipment, ensuring that relevant policies and agreements are reviewed and signed as necessary.
