Job Title:

Professor or Professor in the Practice of Design Science

Job Summary:

We are seeking a visionary scholar and/or practitioner to join our faculty as a Professor or Professor in the Practice of Design Science. This endowed professorship will support a leader who demonstrates a systemic, ethical, and innovative approach to global issues through design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and mentor students across disciplines and departments in the context of design and/or planning education.
  • Conduct creative research through scholarship and/or practice that advances one or more disciplines.
  • Bridge across all the disciplines represented in the GSD's academic departments and non-departmental programs.
  • Establish collaborative research and pedagogy with other Harvard schools.
Requirements:
  • Academic qualifications depend on the profile of the successful applicant.
  • Candidates who pursue largely scholarly research are generally expected to hold a Ph.D.
  • Design practitioners may have an alternative terminal degree, appropriate to support an appointment with tenure or a senior practice appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching and working with diverse communities and students.
  • A record of outstanding creative research through scholarship and/or practice that advances one or more disciplines.
