Position Overview

In collaboration with the Patient Care Manager and Director of Patient Care, the Oncology Patient Care Supervisor is entrusted with fiscal, clinical, and operational responsibilities related to specific shifts. This role oversees one or more direct care units within Northwell Health, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both patients and staff. The Supervisor plays a crucial role in fostering a professional atmosphere that encourages interdisciplinary teamwork, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the execution of the strategic plan through effective communication with team members.
  • Participates actively in the recruitment, training, and mentoring of nursing staff.
  • Builds and maintains trusting relationships with team members, patients, and their families.
  • Embodies the Culture of C.A.R.E., promoting connectedness, awareness, respect, and empathy within the unit.
  • Motivates and inspires staff by exemplifying leadership qualities and adherence to Northwell Health's mission and values.
  • Champions patient-centered best practices and fosters a culture of safety and support among staff.
  • Prioritizes employee engagement and implements strategies to promote a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrates clinical competencies relevant to the patient population under supervision, providing direct care as necessary.
  • Acts as a role model and clinical expert, encouraging ongoing education and professional growth among team members.
  • Stays informed on population health trends, standards of practice, and healthcare legislation, collaborating with the Nurse Manager to keep staff updated.
  • Encourages frontline staff participation in initiatives that affect their practice.
  • Possesses a foundational understanding of operational needs for daily unit management.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and resource allocation for shifts, addressing any discrepancies as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as required, with all responsibilities considered essential functions of the role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory.
  • Must hold a current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State, along with any necessary specialized certifications.
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of clinical experience and up to 2 years in a leadership role is required.
  • Current Oncology Nurse Certification in New York State is essential.

Compensation Information

The salary range for this position is between $94,000 and $150,000 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate of potential base compensation and may be adjusted in the future based on various factors, including location, specialty, service line, relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity considerations.
