This role focuses on delivering high-quality medical and clinical support services to patients in a fast-paced operating room environment. The Surgical Technologist II will work closely with the surgical team to ensure a safe and efficient surgical experience for patients. This role requires advanced knowledge of aseptic technique, anatomy, and physiology, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff, patients, and physicians.
Job Overview
This position is a key member of the surgical team, responsible for preparing and maintaining the operating room environment, assisting with surgical procedures, and ensuring the proper handling and disposal of surgical specimens. The Surgical Technologist II will work under the supervision of the surgical team and will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, including setting up and organizing equipment and supplies.
- Assist with surgical procedures, including preparing patients, instruments, and equipment.
- Ensure the proper handling and disposal of surgical specimens.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team, patients, and physicians to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical experience.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a training program for surgical technology or equivalent experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- 12 months to less than 3 years of healthcare experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of aseptic technique and infection prevention practices.
- Intermediate knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff, patients, and physicians.
