We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join our team as a Construction Filing Specialist at SWA Architecture, PLLC. - Plan Review and Compliance: Conduct thorough reviews of construction plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and other relevant standards.
- Agency Coordination: Coordinate with city agencies, such as the Department of Environmental Protection and the Landmarks Preservation Commission, to secure necessary approvals and clearances.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Keep accurate records of all interactions, submissions, and approvals to ensure compliance with departmental and legal requirements.
- Professional Development: Stay up to date with the latest changes in building codes, zoning regulations, and other applicable laws, and incorporate them into permit application processes.
- Client Support: Provide guidance and support to clients and stakeholders regarding filing procedures, requirements, and timelines.
- Site Visits and Inspections: Conduct site visits and inspections as needed to verify compliance with approved plans and resolve any non-compliance issues.
- Dispute Resolution: Assist in the resolution of disputes or complaints related to permit applications, providing expert advice and recommendations.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Registration: Class 1 or 2 Filing Representative (Expeditor) registration with the New York City Department of Buildings.
- Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of New York City building codes, zoning regulations, and permit application procedures. Strong understanding of construction processes and the ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify and address potential issues proactively. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally.
- Desirable Qualifications: Experience working with government agencies and navigating regulatory processes is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions under pressure. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet changing priorities.
