Position Summary:

As part of Apple's Audio and Media Technologies group (AMT), we are looking for a seasoned software engineering leader to join our Streaming Media division.

The Streaming Media division is responsible for the essential technologies that enable innovative audio-visual experiences across Apple's platforms, including iPhones, iPads, Apple TV, Apple Watch, macOS, and Vision Pro.

We are proud to have developed the HTTP Live Streaming protocol, recognized as one of the leading adaptive bitrate streaming solutions in the industry.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to design cutting-edge features and experiences for upcoming operating system releases while contributing to the evolution of video streaming technologies.


Key Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineering Manager for Streaming Media, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a dynamic team of engineers to develop innovative features in the streaming media domain.
  • Encouraging creativity and pushing the limits of technical possibilities through compelling design.
  • Contributing to the overall architecture of media systems, including performance assessments and optimizations.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless implementation of new features.

Essential Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Extensive software development experience in C programming.
  • Exceptional prioritization skills and a focused approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in multi-threaded programming and synchronization techniques.
  • A solid understanding of Operating Systems fundamentals, including virtual memory, IPC, CPU scheduling, file systems, and I/O management.
  • Experience in debugging and resolving software issues using system profiling and network analysis tools (e.g., GDB/LLDB, Valgrind, Xcode Instruments, Wireshark).

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience, along with 5-10 years in the field.


Compensation & Benefits:

At Apple, base pay is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a range. This allows for growth as you advance in your role.

The base pay range for this position is between $181,000 and $313,000, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in our discretionary employee stock programs. Employees may also be eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
