Job Summary

The Chief Information Officer is responsible for establishing and directing the strategic long-term objectives, policies, and procedures for Information Technology Services. This role involves assessing the institution's long-term systems requirements and determining necessary hardware acquisitions to achieve business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees staffing resources within the department, providing leadership and guidance to department heads, communicating institutional needs, identifying professional development requirements, and offering growth opportunities. Addresses employee conflicts and performance challenges. Engages with students, faculty, and staff to discuss requests, clarifications, recommendations, and feedback. Mentors and coaches ITS directors.
  • Addresses resource allocation challenges. Provides oversight for each ITS department and its resources.
  • Manages financial resources and procurement processes. Identifies opportunities for efficiency and implements cost-saving strategies. Evaluates external technology procurement requests to ensure alignment with institutional objectives and integration into the technology framework. Utilizes existing inventory to meet needs when feasible.
  • Conducts research and evaluates emerging technologies. Collaborates with developers, integrators, other educational institutions, and the University System of Georgia to explore potential solutions to challenges and improvement opportunities. Participates in product and service demonstrations and presents technology solutions to institutional leaders.
  • Coordinates technology initiatives across the campus. Identifies opportunities, defines objectives, and develops plans for projects, including enhancing existing services or introducing new products or services.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field

8 years of management experience in information technology within a collaborative, team-oriented environment

5 years of experience in business continuity planning, auditing, and risk management, along with contract and vendor negotiation

5 years of customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Information Technology or a related field

Experience in higher education settings

Proposed Salary
