About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer to join our team at Duke Energy. As a Nuclear Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development, design, and implementation of plant modifications, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our nuclear facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement plant modifications, including AC power systems, DC power systems, large AC motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, voltage regulators, and breakers.
  • Provide engineering and technical expertise in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Ensure the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conduct engineering and related studies, complete non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight, and independently manage project schedules and interfaces.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer I, and 2-4 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer II, with a minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program, proficiency in engineering theories and principles, and experience in the utility industry.
