About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer to join our team at Duke Energy. As a Nuclear Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing plant modifications, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our nuclear power plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement plant modifications, including AC power systems, DC power systems, and large AC motors.
  • Conduct engineering and related studies, and complete non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, and documentation related to defined problems and analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Master's degree in Engineering may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer I, and 2-4 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer II.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nuclear experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Proficient in engineering theories and principles.
  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation.

Travel Requirements

5-15% travel required.
